Résume | Given a (non-separably closed) henselian field K such that the residue field of canonical henselian valuation has characteristic 0, Jahnke and Koenigsmann give necessary and sufficient conditions for K to admit a non-trivial henselian valuation ring that is definable in the language of rings. I will explain how to extend their work to the case where the residue field of the canonical henselian valuation has positive characteristic, exploiting the information provided by independent defect extensions. This is joint work with Margarete Ketelsen (Münster) and Piotr Szewczyk (Dresden). |
