The skein algebra of a surface S is defined using isotopy classes of curves in the thickened surface SxI, where I is the unit interval, subject to local relations involving crossings and their smoothings. Qiu pioneered the use of decorated marked surfaces as a geometric framework for studying the derived category of the Ginzburg dg algebra associated with a triangulation of a marked surface. In this talk, I will introduce the skein algebra of a triangulated decorated marked surface and discuss its connections with the derived Hall algebra of the perfectly valued derived category of the corresponding Ginzburg dg algebra. This is a report on ongoing joint work with Denis Lyskov.
