| Résume | Joint work with C. Lassueur, F. Lübeck and E. Schulte. We report about a program to classify simple endotrivial modules for quasi-simple groups.
This is motivated by a recent result of Robinson saying that most simple endotrivial modules for finite groups come from quasi-simple groups. Main tools are: a lifting result for endotrivial modules which allows us to apply methods and results from ordinary character theory; existence of regular semisimple elements in finite groups of Lie type with certain properties; Deligne-Lusztig theory; and a formula of Asai. We will also describe an application to a question of Koshitani. |
