Le séminaire des thésards est l'occasion pour les doctorants de présenter des résultats et des problématiques dignes d'intérêt devant un public de non-spécialistes. L'ambiance y est informelle ; poser des questions naïves est encouragé, et les questions moins naïves sont bienvenues dans la mesure où elles n'entravent pas le bon déroulement de l'exposé.

The aim of this presentation is to introduce variational aspects of geometric analysis through the scope of harmonic maps.

I will recall well-known properties of harmonic functions in Euclidean space to motivate the study of harmonic maps between Riemannian manifolds from a variational perspective. The focus will be on three main aspects: existence, regularity and bubbling phenomena associated with energy concentration along sequences of harmonic maps from surfaces. These elements will be explored to highlight their significance in understanding the asymptotic behavior of harmonic maps.
