The study of closed invariant submanifolds for hyperbolic systemsis an old subject going back to work of Hirsch and Mane in the 60's and featuring some interesting work of Zeghib in the 90's. Work I did recently with Filip and Lowe fits naturally in this context. I will give a talk connecting these ideas including in some work in progress with Eliott Smith.
