| Résume |
Quantum bits of information (qubits) are very fragile entities. Subject to the noise of the environment, they can be corrupted or even disappear. Major efforts are currently being put on solving the problem of storing qubits for long periods of time. In this seminar, I will explain how a quantum memory can be obtained from certain chain complexes over finite field coefficients. I will then give an overview of recent progress in the field and the current state of the art. I will finally present a new approach, called the “lift”, to design such quantum memories based on covering maps and, if time allows, I will expose some explicit constructions inspired by geometric group theory.
