Séminaires : Séminaire des Thésards

Le séminaire des thésards est l'occasion pour les doctorants de présenter des résultats et des problématiques dignes d'intérêt devant un public de non-spécialistes. L'ambiance y est informelle ; poser des questions naïves est encouragé, et les questions moins naïves sont bienvenues dans la mesure où elles n'entravent pas le bon déroulement de l'exposé.

Classification Theory is a branch of Model Theory whose goal, roughly speaking, is to classify theories in terms of how many non-isomorphic models of a given cardinality it admits. This behaviour is sometimes coded by some (un)desirable combinatorics of the definable sets, namely whether some graphs cannot be defined in some models of the given theory. I will explain and show examples of fields that satisfy (or not) these properties: for instance, I'll show that the Random Graph can be interpreted in any Pseudo-Algebraically closed non-separably closed field (Duret), and explain how this has an impact on the complexity of the field in question.
