Séminaires : Séminaire des Thésards

Le séminaire des thésards est l'occasion pour les doctorants de présenter des résultats et des problématiques dignes d'intérêt devant un public de non-spécialistes. L'ambiance y est informelle ; poser des questions naïves est encouragé, et les questions moins naïves sont bienvenues dans la mesure où elles n'entravent pas le bon déroulement de l'exposé.

An n-dimensional real torus is a smooth manifold obtained as the quotient of R^n by a full lattice; they are all diffeomorphic to R^n/Z^n. Thus the space of all real tori (up to diffeo) is a point.
This is boring.
A g-dimensional complex torus is a complex manifold obtained as the quotient of C^g by a full lattice (e.g. Z^g + iZ^g); this time any two complex tori are in general very different (as complex manifolds), so the space of all complex tori could be an interesting object. Unfortunately, we will see that it is badly behaved.
When we restrict to tori admitting an embedding in projective space (those for which we can write down equations), the space of all such tori becomes more tractable. By the end of the talk, we will have described it.
