| Résume | In recent joint work with Nicolas Templier on the Sato-Tate theorem for families of automorphic representations, a crucial ingredient was a uniform bound on orbital integrals. I will explain the theorem and indicate how this question arises in the proof. If time permits, I will also give a non-expert overview of the solution via motivic integration theory by Cluckers-Gordon-Halupczok. |
