This talk describes the development of probabilistic number theorystarting with the famous "Kubilius - model" and referring to theconstructions given by Novoselov, Schwarz-Spilker and Mauclaire,respectively, and presents a new approach which is based on theStone-Cech compactification of the natural numbers.
