Résume | We know from the work of Milne that the natural conjectures about the values of zeta-functions of smooth projective varieties over finite fields involve a term which is made up from the Euler characteristics of coherent sheaves, which in fact are exterior powers of the sheaves of differentials, The analogous formula in the arithmetic case seems to at least formally involve the notion of absolute differentials, or, speaking very loosely, ``differentials over the one-element field''. |
