Turaev-Viro and Kuperberg defined in the 90's 3-manifolds invariants associated to algebraic data (a Hopf algebra or more generaly a tensor category ). In the Turaev-Viro setting a semi-simple tensor category is used ("spherical") while Kuperberg uses a non semi-simple Hopf algebra.  We define an invariant to unify both constructions based on unimodular categories.  To achieve this, first we use a "m-trace" to extend Penrose graphical calculus to diagrams drawn on handlebodies, then we describe 3-manifolds with such diagrams.
