| Résume | Groups definable in o-minimal structures have been studied by many authors in the last 30 years and include algebraic groups over algebraically closed fields of characteristic 0, semi-algebraic groups over real closed fields, important classes of real Lie groups such as abelian groups, compact groups and linear semisimple groups. In this talk I will present results on groups definable in o-minimal structures, demonstrating a strong analogy with topological decompositions of linear algebraic groups. Limitations of this analogy will be shown through several examples. |
