We construct a motivic cohomology theory of singular schemes using the relationship with (higher) algebraic K-theory as a guiding principle. In equicharacteritics, this theory is controlled by (cdh-sheafified) dlog forms and syntomic cohomology. This is joint work with Matthew Morrow.
