Le séminaire des thésards est l'occasion pour les doctorants de présenter des résultats et des problématiques dignes d'intérêt devant un public de non-spécialistes. L'ambiance y est informelle ; poser des questions naïves est encouragé, et les questions moins naïves sont bienvenues dans la mesure où elles n'entravent pas le bon déroulement de l'exposé.

Un jeudi sur deux à 18h00, en alternance entre Jussieu et Sophie Germain.

RésumeHyperbolic structures on a surface give rise to injective homomorphisms with discrete image from its fundamental group to SL(2,R). This is the object of study of classical Teichmüller Theory. In this talk, we will look for homomorphisms of the fundamental group of the surface to SL(3,R). To do so we will endow the space of such homomorphisms with a topology. It has three connected components; among them is the "Hitchin component" which has a nice geometric interpretation. We will particularly focus on injective homomorphisms with discrete image. This is the subject of Higher Teichmüller Theory.
