Résume

We will introduce a few asymptotic smoothness properties of Banach spaces. We will define them in terms of upper $\ell_p$ estimates for weakly null trees and describe their main characterizations, in particular through the existence of asymptotically uniformly smooth renormings. Then we will survey some of their following applications: for three-space problems, nonlinear classification of Banach spaces, universality and complexity questions.
