Séminaires : Séminaire des Thésards

Le séminaire des thésards est l'occasion pour les doctorants de présenter des résultats et des problématiques dignes d'intérêt devant un public de non-spécialistes. L'ambiance y est informelle ; poser des questions naïves est encouragé, et les questions moins naïves sont bienvenues dans la mesure où elles n'entravent pas le bon déroulement de l'exposé.

The fine curve graph of a surface S, denoted C † (S) was introduced by Bowden, Hensel, and Webb in [BHW22]. It is analogous to the classical curve graph C(S) which has been used to explore the mapping class group MCG(S). This new curve graph is also Gromov hyperbolic and it is a tool to study the homeomorphism or diffeomorphism groups of a surface. In this talk, we will get to know this object. We then take a look at the interesting questions and known results of this field of research. In particular, we will see how questions about the fine curve graph relate to dynamics, and more specifically rotation theory.
