Abstract: The character variety is an affine scheme parametrizing semisimple local systems, and is constructed via GIT techniques.
Using homotopical methods combined with works of Alper-Halpern Leistner-Heinloth, I will explain how one can construct a perverse character variety, parametrizing semisimple perverse sheaves.
