| Résume | Abstract: The factorization problem asks under which conditions two birationally isomorphic varieties X and Y have a common iterated smooth blowup Z. Oda specifically conjectured this to be true for toric varieties. We give an affirmative answer if one allows for the blowups to be at rationally smooth centers, solving a weighted version of Oda's conjecture, and a separate conjecture of Alexander in PL topology.
