Heights and isogenies of Drinfeld modules
▽ résumé △ résumé [affiche]
We discuss various notions of heights of Drinfeld modules and prove an explicit bound on the difference of heights of two isogenous Drinfeld modules. As applications, we give a new proof of the finiteness of isomorphism classes of Drinfeld modules over a global field in an isogeny class, as well as explicit bounds on the coefficients of Drinfeld modular polynomials in the case of rank r=2. (Joint work with Fabien Pazuki and Mahefason Heriniaina Razafinjatovo).

Mordell-Weil rank jumps and the Hilbert property
▽ résumé △ résumé [affiche]
Let X be an elliptic surface with a section defined over a number field. Specialization theorems by Néron and Silverman imply that the rank of the Mordell-Weil group of special fibers is at least equal to the MW rank of the generic fiber. We say that the rank jumps when the former is strictly large than the latter. In this talk, I will discuss rank jumps for elliptic surfaces fibred over the projective line. If the surface admits a conic bundle we show that the subset of the line for which the rank jumps is not thin in the sense of Serre. This is joint work with Dan Loughran.

The strict log jacobian of a log smooth curve
▽ résumé △ résumé [affiche]
An abelian variety over the fraction field K of a discrete valuation ring R admits a canonical smooth model over R, the Neron model. However, if we allow R to be a regular ring of higher dimension, the same does not hold. The talk will be about smooth group-models of jacobians of curves with nodal degeneration. I will introduce the concepts of log and tropical jacobian, recently redefined by Molcho and Wise, and deduce a criterion for existence of a Neron model in terms of quasi-finiteness of the strict tropical jacobian. I will further give a simple description of the category of all smooth, separated group-models of the jacobian.

On the structure of Breuil-Kisin cohomology in low ramification
▽ résumé △ résumé [affiche]
In this talk, we will explain that for any proper smooth (formal) scheme over $\mathcal O_K$ , where $\mathcal O_K$ is the ring of integers in a complete discretely valued nonarchimedean extension $K$ of $\mathbb Q_p$ with perfect residue field $k$ and ramification degree $e$, the $i$-th Breuil-Kisin cohomology group and its Hodge-Tate specialization admit nice decompositions when $ie$ < $p-1$. We will see this can be used to prove the integral comparison theorems about $p$-adic etale cohomology and crystalline cohomology, which were proven before by Fontaine-Messing and Caruso.

Higher heights and rational points on curves
▽ résumé △ résumé [affiche]
The unipotent fundamental group of a variety over a number field produces a tower of obstructions to an adelic point being global. In this talk I will explain how these obstructions can be described explicitly, and give some applications. This involves a combination of joint work with Alex Betts, Carl Wang-Erickson and Jan Vonk.

Weight--Monodromy and Canonical Paths on Varieties
▽ résumé △ résumé [affiche]
We discuss an analogue of Deligne's weight--monodromy conjecture for the pro-unipotent fundamental groupoids of smooth varieties over mixed characteristic local fields, proved in the l=p case by Vologodsky and in general in joint work with Daniel Litt. One surprising consequence of this is that any two points in a smooth variety are connected by a canonical choice of "path". Time permitting, we will explain how, in the case of curves, these canonical paths admit a combinatorial description in terms of the reduction graph. This leads to a theory of refined Selmer varieties, and has consequences for the Chabauty--Kim method.

Irreducibility and Transversality Criteria
▽ résumé △ résumé [affiche]
The irreducibility and transversality of a curve are crucial conditions in many theorems in the context of anomalous intersections. However, given a family of curves in $E^N$ for $E$ an elliptic curve, it is not easy to decide weather they are irreducible or transverse. I will present some criteria and some examples. I will also explain how such properties can be used, together with some height bounds, to determine the K-rational points on some families of curves.

Unlikely intersections in the moduli space of principally polarized abelian surfaces
▽ résumé △ résumé [affiche]
The Zilber-Pink conjecture predicts that a family of abelian surfaces over a one-dimensional base, with generic endomorphism ring $\mathbb{Z}$, contains at most finitely many fibres with quaternionic multiplication. I will discuss a partial proof of this conjecture (joint with Christopher Daw). The main ingredients are new quantitative results in the reduction theory of algebraic groups and a height bound due to André.

Differentiability of the arithmetic volume function along the base conditions
▽ résumé △ résumé [affiche]
The arithmetic volume of a pair of an adelic R-Cartier divisor and an R-Cartier divisor is an invariant measuring the asymptotic behavior of the numbers of the strictly small sections of the high multiples of the pair. In this talk, we establish that the arithmetic volume function defined on an open cone of the space of pairs is Gâteaux differentiable along the directions defined by R-Cartier divisors and that the derivatives are given by arithmetic restricted positive intersection numbers.

Effective relative Manin-Mumford for curves in families of multiplicative extensions of an elliptic curve
▽ résumé △ résumé [affiche]
I will discuss joint work with Harry Schmidt in which we give an effective version of a result of Bertrand, Masser, Pillay and Zannier on curves in families of multiplicative extensions of an elliptic curve. In certain cases we obtain extra uniformity. The methods involve pfaffian functions. In particular, previous work with Schmidt on pfaffian definitions of elliptic functions plays a key role.

An arithmetic Yau-Zaslow formula
▽ résumé △ résumé [affiche]
There is an arithmetic refinement of the Yau-Zaslow formula by replacing the classical Euler characteristic in Beauville's argument by a variant of Levine's motivic Euler characteristic. This result implies several similar formulas for other related invariants, including Saito's determinant of cohomology, and a generalisation of a formula of Kharlamov and Rasdeaconu on counting real rational curves on real K3 surfaces. The methods of the proof are classical, and don't use motivic homotopical tools.
